Vodafone servers now run cool

At the Vodafone offices in Burton, Mace Air designed supplied and fitted the latest air conditioning systems in the telephone company’s upgraded server rooms.

Vodafone acquired the former Central Telecom business in December 2008 and Mace Air has an established position of working for both companies.

The Mace team carried out an initial survey and then designed the air conditioning system for the server rooms of the telecoms giant. Critically, the company was looking for perfect temperature control to protect the operating environment in its dedicated server room.

Simon Chapman, Mace Air MD, pointed out, “Increasingly, we find from our site surveys that many essential servers, network infra-structures and other business critical assets require air conditioning.

Mace Air undertake all types of air conditioning work and design-installation projects with an increasing proportion of its customers requiring higher levels of protection for their equipment.

The air handling units of the split systems were conveniently sited close to the server room but adjacent to other units installed by Mace Air to facilitate ease of maintenance.

The energy efficient systems installed at Vodafone were specified by Mace Air as low-noise, energy rated ‘A’, with lower power consumption and efficient operation. For this project, the contractor located the most suitable system that was currently available and advised Vodafone as part of its ongoing customer care programme.

Mace Air met stringent supplier terms demanded by the client and confirmed its status as a responsible, reliable company, with the resources and skills to deliver.
